چکیده

A hierarchic structure of syn re chains has been proposed as the neural substrate for compositionality; individual chains represent aspects of a complex object, and the dynamic binding of several chains integrates the entire object. In this study we demonstrate that such a structure is capable of modelling compositionality in a generic fashion, i.e. not just for reactive computations such as perceiving stimuli, but also for active computations such as the generation of complex behavior. As an example case which is the subject of many experimental investigations, we address the perception and generation of movement. A small number of syn re chains is su cient to reliably discriminate between di erent interstimulus delays and to generate arbitrary planar point-to-point trajectories on the basis of simple motion primitives. Moreover, when the network is constructed in a closed-loop fashion, autonomous scribbling-like trajectories are generated.

A Compositionality Machine Realized by a Hierarchic Architecture of Synfire Chains

The composition of complex behavior is thought to rely on the concurrent and sequential activation of simpler action components, or primitives. Systems of synfire chains have previously been proposed to account for either the simultaneous or the sequential aspects of compositionality; however, the compatibility of the two aspects has so far not been addressed. Moreover, the simultaneous activat...

Syn re Graphs From Spike Patterns to Automata of Spiking Neurons

The concept of syn re chains has been proposed by Abeles as a reason able biophysical model for cortical long time correlations and replicating spike patterns in multi unit recordings Some recent computational modelling ap proaches extend the model into a functional direction proposing that the synchronization of syn re chains may help to solve the binding problem of cortical information proces...

A Context-aware Architecture for Mental Model Sharing through Semantic Movement in Intelligent Agents

Recent studies in multi-agent systems are paying increasingly more attention to the paradigm of designing intelligent agents with human inspired concepts. One of the main cognitive concepts driving the core of many recent approaches in multi agent systems is shared mental models. In this paper, we propose an architecture for sharing mental models based on a new concept called semantic movement....

A New Algorithm for Performance Evaluation of Homogeneous Architectural Styles

Software architecture is considered one of the most important indices of software engineering today. Software Architecture is a technical description of a system indicating its component structures and their relationships, and is the principles and rules governing designing. The success of the software depends on whether the system can satisfy the quality attributes. One of the most critical as...
